What a day, with a total of 34 participants in our most successfull tournament yet! Corey clinched first place with a perfect score, after a close fourth game going to the last second! Second place was Lyubomir Gospodinov, Robert Wagner, and myself. Eric Thivierge won the Scholastic with a perfect score and his brother Mark Thivierge tied for second with Brennan Hinson and Alex Truex.

In the St. Petersburg Chess Club, there was a fantastic tournament today! We had several new players and the competition is getting fierce! There were many upsets which shows that the lower rated players are certaintly improving and on the top of their game. Our new 2013 Chess Club Joy Champion is Jose Moncada, with a perfect 4-0 score, followed by Lyubomir Gospodinov in second with 3 1/2 and with a four people third place tie. Jose took home $130 cash, a huge trophy, and next time he comes to the chess club, his name will be engraved on the plague. Our Scholastic winner is rapidly improving Siddharth Acharya who also finished with a 4-0 score. Thank you to everyone who supported us and making the St. Pete area a great place to play chess!

What a tournament we had today!!! Thank you to all who participated at our tournament, and a special thanks to Chess Club Joy for giving us the best tournament we've had as a team. Combined, we won 14 out of 16 games and the 2 games we lost were against each other. I was very proud of my team, with the champions from both sections Open and Scholastic being myself and Steven, with Lyubomir Gospodinov and Antony Gospodinov tying for second with Jose Moncada who lost for his first time today.
